The news is out! Our boat is finished and ready to be shipped.
My emotions are transparently all over the place as we get closer and closer to the point where the dream of the business becomes a reality. All this hits even harder because of the fact that we are completely self-funded; we have no outside backing, no fancy factory, no benefactor sliding us thousands of dollars in startup costs. Lazy Deckhand Boat Works is a true bootstrapped startup where every dollar put in is a personal dollar of one of our founders. And that's why it feels even more special now that we've reached this first milestone. Many people might question why receiving our first piece of inventory is such a big deal, and that's fine. But to us, knowing how hard it is to break into the industry and doing it without outside funds, it means everything. Today is a celebration of all the late nights, ideas sketched out on a whiteboard, and time we spent talking to other people who know way more than us about boats.
The work is just beginning and now is when the testing and sea trials begin. The opportunity to do that in and of itself is a massive win, and we're gonna celebrate it. Talk soon:)
