I started Lazy Deckhand Boat Works to get away from what seemed inevitable: a 25-year career spent behind a computer screen, working on projects that were neither tangible nor particularly rewarding. Endless meetings that seemed worthless, where nothing got accomplished. I wanted to feel alive, light that fire inside, and build something real.
It's hard. Full stop. In the process of setting the company up to receive delivery of our first hull, a Vapor 14, the team and I have been working constantly in the background to make sure we're prepared for testing. Every day feels like a mix of anticipation and pressure. Every decision feels like it has major weight to it. Every little thing directly affects how this boat will perform when it hits the water for the first time.
Starting this company has been a lot. But I guess I'm here to say that all of it--yes, all of it--is worth it. So go out there and choose something real. I did, and I'm never looking back. See y'all soon:)
